XJTLU is one of the largest international joint-venture universities in China, with over 21,000 students. Established in 2006 by Xi'an Jiaotong University (a C9 League research university, one of China's top 10) and the University of Liverpool, students who complete a 4-year UG programme receive both an XJTLU degree (recognised by the Chinese Ministry of Education) and a University of Liverpool degree (recognised in the UK). The Suzhou campus is purpose-built and located in Suzhou Industrial Park, ~30 minutes by high-speed rail from Shanghai. XJTLU pioneers a research-led, student-centred education model and has expanded to a second campus (Taicang) opened in 2023.
