In January 2025, the University of Exeter signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish its first overseas branch campus, at the Ain Shams University International Campus in Cairo, Egypt. This is a historic announcement: the FIRST Russell Group university branch campus anywhere in Africa. The partnership is facilitated by the British Council's Higher Education Transnational Education (TNE) programme. The campus will offer globally accredited undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes from the University of Exeter, alongside dual-degree offerings jointly with Ain Shams University.
