BUV is the only international university in Vietnam authorised to deliver degrees from six UK universities: University of London (with academic direction by the London School of Economics, a top-3 UK university), University of Staffordshire, University of Stirling, Arts University Bournemouth, Bournemouth University, and Manchester Metropolitan University. Students earn the same UK degree as students studying in the UK, with the same curriculum, examinations and academic standards. BUV holds QAA accreditation (the UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education).

British University Vietnam was founded in 2009 by Khalid Muhmood MBE and Arabella Peters. In 2018 BUV opened its purpose-built Ecopark campus on a 6.5-hectare site, with total investment of $165 million across three planned phases. The campus is designed to international standards with iconic architecture, smart classrooms, modern technology, and beautiful sustainable design. In 2023, BUV became the first Higher Education Institution in Vietnam to achieve a 5-star QS rating, and the first in ASEAN to receive QAA accreditation. 100% of graduates are employed or in further education within 3 months of graduation.
